Biography: Adrienne Cox

Specialist MS Nurse, Royal Hallamshire Hospital

Adrienne had always wanted to be a nurse and started out her nursing life as a pre-nursing student in 1977. She commenced my training at the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield in 1979. Over the years she has worked in a variety of settings both within the NHS and the Private sector. She became an MS Nurse Specialist in 2000 working for Sheffield hospital trust covering a very wide geographical area and very recently moved to work for Bassetlaw- Pct covering Bassetlaw which includes Worksop and Retford.

Her areas of interest are education and to promote understanding of MS to all. Fatigue is a subject that she has particular interest in as it very hard to see and understand.

Abstract

Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms experienced by people with MS, and is reported by many as their worst symptom, not least because other people can’t see it. Through an MS nurse and a personal perspective, this workshop will look at types of fatigue and how to manage your energy effectively.
